How to Endorse

STEP 1: Endorsement
Have the head of your organisation fill in the letter template, or write your own a letter that:
- Indicates your committment to the principles of the Code of Good Practice and to applying the Code to your programmes.
- Nominates a Code ‘champion' to serve as a focal point.
- Indicates your agreement to self-evaluate on a yearly basis using the Code's Self-Assessment Tools and provide an Action Plan.
- Agrees to share examples of good practice from your own organisation.

Email your letter to info@hivcode.org
In endorsing the Code, organisations take on the responsibility for implementing programs that are in line with Code principles and for monitoring and evaluating their progress. In this way, the Code Secretariat will evaluate the legitimacy of each organisation initially and encourage/provide the tools for NGOs to conduct a yearly self-assessment, but will not take the role of evaluating programmess or policing progress.
STEP 2: The Review Process
- The Secretariat will review endorsements and assess the legitimacy of the NGO.
- Credible NGOs will be accepted as signatories and listed on the Code website.
STEP 3: Conduct a Self-Assessment
Conduct one of the Code's Self-Assessment checklists that are relevant to your programmes, complete the short Action Plan saying HOW you will improve your work over the coming year and mail it to the Code Secretariat.
