GNP+ hosts NGO Code

The NGO Code of Good Practice was developed by NGOs for NGOs to help guide their work by providing a framework of key principles, practices and evidence base required for successful repsonses to HIV. After the initial set up a large number of international NGOs working in HIV endorsed the Code. During 2007 and 2008, the NGO Code project stepped up its efforts to increase endorsements, and create and roll out the self assessment tools for implementing organisations.

After many years being hosted by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), the NGO Code secretariat has now moved to the Global Network of People living iwth HIV (GNP+).

The NGO code is still accepting endorsements. GNP+ anticipates that before Summer 2009 over 500 international, national and community based NGOs will have endorsed the Code.
